Port Vale sign Harry McKirdy on one-year contract

Attacker Harry McKirdy has completed a move to Port Vale after signing a one-year deal with the Valiants.

McKirdy hit 11 goals in 38 games in all competitions for Carlisle last season to be the Cumbrians’ leading goalscorer.

The 23-year-old has plenty of League Two experience following loan spells with Stevenage, Crewe, and Newport.

Port Vale chief executive Colin Garlick told the club’s official website: “I think it’s a great signing – it’s surprising we’re so close to the season and Harry is still available. He’s been training here a couple of weeks and looks like a really exciting prospect; this is a young man who knows where the goal is.

“He’s certainly young and enthusiastic and just speaking to him, he’s absolutely raring to go. We have had an interesting couple of weeks where one door closes and another one opens, this is football.”
