Britain's Jemma Reekie continues phenomenal form ahead of Tokyo beating World Champion Halimah Nakaayi to 800m victory

Jemma Reekie has claimed her second IAAF World Indoor Series win in five days beating World Champion Halimah Nakaayi in the 800m in France.

The 21-year-old Scot, who rocketed into the limelight claiming three national records in two races last week, finished first in a time of two minutes and 0.34 seconds.

Nakaayi, gold medallist from Doha in 2019, came in second in a time of 2:01.96, almost two seconds slower than the rising youngster with Ethiopia's Habitam Alemu coming in third.

Reekie already claimed victory in the 1500m in Glasgow on Saturday and is pushing compatriot and close friend Laura Muir all the way to Tokyo.

Despite controversies surrounding the latest Nike footwear, which Reekie has been competing in, both she and her coach Andy Young have quashed rumours that these have been the key to her successes.
