The IAAF have cut four core events from featuring at all Diamond League meets in 2020 in order to "create a faster-paced" league for athletes and fans. 

The 200m and 3,000m steeplechase will take place at 10 of the 15 meetings, whilst the discus and the long jump will feature in just two.

IAAF president Sebastian Coe said: "Our objective is to create a faster-paced, more exciting global league that will be the showcase for our sport. A league that broadcasters want to show and fans want to watch."

The governing body has carried out research on the popularity of the events and will aim to cut the length of each meeting down to a 90-minute broadcast.

"We understand the disappointment of those athletes in the disciplines not part of the 2020 Diamond League season," said Coe.

Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, who became the 200m Diamond League champion in September, and 3000m steeplechaser Eilish McColgan are among those impacted by the change of schedule.

The 2020 League will begin in April where a total of 12 disciplines will be at each of the 15 meetings across the year.
