GB's para-athletes Cockroft and Reid buzzing ahead of Müller Anniversary Games

Great Britain's para-athletes Hannah Cockroft and Stef Reid have shared their excitement ahead of the Muller Anniversary Games at the London Stadium this summer.

Cockroft, who won the T34 800m at the World Para-Athletics Championships last year and also broke the T34 100m world record, will be looking to add to her medal collection.

She has won 12 world championship gold medals and is a five-time Olympic champion across several sprinting events.

The 27 year-old, who will be competing in her third Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020, said: "I am so excited to be heading back to the London Stadium to compete at the Müller Anniversary Games. It will be an important race for me ahead of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

"Opportunities to race against the best in the world in front of a home crowd don’t come around very often, so it will be a special occasion and a significant milestone in my season.

"The support from British fans is like no other, and I cannot wait to compete in front of them. I have great memories from the London Games in 2012, and the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, so it will be the perfect send off before my third Paralympics."

Meanwhile, Reid is set to compete in the T44 long jump.

The 35-year-old won silver at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and is the 2017 world champion.

Ahead of the Games she added: "I cannot wait to get back into the London Stadium where I’ve experienced some of the best moments of my career.

"I still get butterflies when I drive past the stadium and the event will be the perfect send off to Tokyo 2020!"

Other GB athletes joining Cockroft and Reid include seven-time world champion Sophie Hahn who will compete in the T35-38 100m.

Hahn is the 2016 Olympic champion in the T38 100m and is the current world record holder with a time of 12.45 seconds.

The Müller Anniversary Games will take place on July 4-5 at the London Stadium.
