Jamaica storm to 4x100m relay World Championships gold in Doha with GB claiming silver

Favourites Jamaica won the 4x100m relay final in an incredible race, while Great Britain took an impressive silver in the World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Natalliah Whyte got Jamaica off to a flying start and they never looked back with 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in their ranks. Shericka Jackson took the team home to a world leading time of 41.44 seconds.

Team GB were under threat in the opening few legs from the USA, Switzerland and Germany but Ashleigh Nelson and Daryll Neita finished strongly. Neita pulled away from America's Kiara Parker on the home straight and almost helped the team break the British record, but they had to settle for a season best time of 41.85 seconds.

Dina Asher-Smith finishes the championships with three medals, after a gold in the 200m and a second place finish in the 100m last weekend.

USA took the bronze medal with a season best time of 42.10 seconds, and just outlasted a superb effort from Switzerland by 0.08 seconds. Switzerland broke their national record, while Trinidad and Tobago ran a season best to finish sixth.

There were some issues with the baton changes throughout the race across teams, but China suffered the most as at one point they had to run back a long way to change in the required zone.
