Jamaica's teen sprinter withdraws from World Athletics Championships

Jamaica's 17 year-old sprinter Briana Williams has withdrawn from the Athletics World Championships in Doha.

The news comes following a reprimand by the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel for a failed drugs test last month.

Williams pleaded not guilty after she tested positive for banned substance hydrochlorothiazide at the Jamaica National Championships in June.

Her decision to withdraw came nine hours after she received her reprimand.

A statement from the IADP said: "The athlete has established no significant fault or negligence as she was given tablets by her guardian and had no intention to cheat."

The IADP recommends that the athlete undergoes another education programme on Anti-Doping In Sport Rules."

The sprinter was due to compete for Jamaica in the 100m and 4x100m relay.
