Malaika Mihambo produces stunning jump to win gold on final day of World Athletics Championships

Malaika Mihambo won the long jump with an astonishing performance in the long jump final on the final day of the World Athletics Championships in Doha.

The German, who is also the European champion, jumped over seven metres in three of her five attempts, including her last two. But she reached a personal best of 7.30m in the third round, having clocked 21 mph on the runway.

No-one else reached seven metres as Ukraine's Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk took silver with a jump of 6.92m, while Nigeria's Ese Brume's best jump was just 0.01m less to take bronze.

USA dominated the 4x400m relay from start to finish to win gold as Poland took a shock silver in the final.

Poland broke their national record with a time of 3:21.89, but the USA's women produced a world-leading time of 3:18.92 to end their championships on a high.

For a large part of the race, Great Britain were third but the speed of Jamaican pair Stephenie Ann McPherson and Shericka Jackson proved too much to give Jamaica bronze.

The top four all produced either world leading, national record or season best times and another characteristically fast final at these championships.

Elsewhere, America's Nia Ali ran a personal best of 12.34 seconds to win the 100m hurdles. Fellow American Keni Harrison won silver with a time of 12.46 seconds and very close behind was Jamaica's Danielle Williams to take bronze.
