Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce dominates the 60m and Jemma Reeke shines again at Muller Indoor Athletics Grand Prix

Jamaica's 'pocket rocket' Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce showed that motherhood is not slowing her down as she raced to victory in the 60m on the first day of competition in Glasgow.

The 33 year-old successfully defended her title, finishing in a blistering 7.16 seconds to quash any doubts that she will be a contender in the sprint events in Tokyo this summer.

Elsewhere on the track Scottish dream team Laura Muir and Jemma Reeke were in action in the 1000m and 1500m respectively.

Up first was Reeke, who last week broke three Scottish records in two races. After a modest first few laps, the young Scot stepped up a gear to claim victory after a blindingly fast final lap helped her finish in 4:04.07.

Muir had been hinting before the meet that she was gunning for the 1000m world record.

Despite finishing in first place by four seconds with a season's best of 2:33.47, she couldn't quite finish with the spurt required to take the record. Compatriot Adelle Tracy put in an impressive personal best performance to come home in second.

World champion heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson was also in action in the long jump but finished just outside the medals with a season's best tied with fellow Brit Jazmin Sawyers.

Bethany Partridge also staked a claim for a spot for Team GB in Tokyo with a second place finish in the high jump behind Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

Action from Glasgow continues tomorrow with Britain's golden girl Dina Asher-Smith returning to the track.
