Team GB's Samantha Kinghorn confident she can be a finalist for Tokyo 2020 as she looks to capitalise on Dubai performance

Team GB's para-athlete Samantha Kinghorn believes that she can be a finalist at the 2020 Paralympic Games as she looks to captalise on her World Championship performance.

Kinghorn sealed a bronze medal in the T53 100m final at the World Para Athletics Championships last month in Dubai after she underwent surgery just seven weeks before competing on the international stage.

The 23 year-old reflecting on her world success said: "The best thing is that I know that I can go even faster.

"It was won in 16.26 seconds and I know I can definitely do that if I work really hard over the winter."

Kinghorn will be competing in her second Paralympic Games in Tokyo next summer. The double world champion will be taking part in the T53 100, 400m and 800m.

"At the moment I am training as hard as possible in the build up to Tokyo. This is a time to really knuckle down and be there to win a medal. All I am thinking about is being on that final in Tokyo."

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will begin on July 24.
