Barrymore challenges former boxer Couch to rematch after famous TV scrap in 1997...and she doesn't back down!

TV personality Michael Barrymore has called out Britain's first licensed female boxer Jane Couch and asked for a 'rematch' after their famous scuffle on a talk show in 1997.

Couch, who retired from the sport in 2007 after becoming a five-time world champion, appeared on the programme 'Barrymore' and proceeded to give the host a beatdown when they put the gloves on for a friendly spar.

Now, 23 years on, Barrymore has offered the 52-year-old ex-fighter to another scrap, although he does admit he suffered physically after their first tussle back in the 90s.

In response to Couch tweeting out the footage, he said: "My ribs hurt for ages after. Would I do it again? Yeah in a heart beat. Keep the gloves on Jane and keep well. Rematch? X"

Couch responded in typically playful fashion, saying: F****n right let’s go We can make the whole country laugh again xxx"

Couch gave NewsChain an exclusive interview last year in which she discussed the state of women's boxing, the financial imbalance and the mental struggles of the sport.
