Cecilia Braekhus to defend undisputed welterweight crown against Jessica McCaskill in April

Undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus will defend her world titles against Jessica McCaskill in Maryland on April 17.

The 38-year-old Norwegian, who holds a perfect professional record of 36 wins and no losses, has held all four of the major 147 pound belts since September 2014.

Meanwhile, McCaskill is moving up from super lightweight, where she is already a unified world champion, to try to dethrone 'The First Lady'.

Speaking to World Boxing News, she said: “I’m very excited to battle Jessica McCaskill on April 17. She is a unified World champion and a formidable opponent for me. However, following my victory in November I only took a short time off from training and will be well prepared for this very tough challenge.

“Thanks very much to my team for their efforts in bringing me this opportunity and to my fans all over the world, I can’t wait to put on a great show for you in Maryland.”

McCaskill added: “This is a fight I wanted. I want to fight the biggest names and the best fighters. Nothing less. My name is up there with the best in female history and I want to continue on that path. Every time I fight it's exciting and not only for female boxing but for boxing – period.”

The fight will be the main undercard bout to Regis Prograis v Maurice Hooker, with the full show available to watch on Sky Sports in the UK or DAZN in the US.
