Katie Taylor 'can't wait' for 'massive fight' against Amanda Serrano at Manchester Arena

Undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor insists she has been waiting a 'long, long time' for her huge dust-up with Amanda Serrano at the Manchester Arena on May 2.

The 33 year-old, who is a two-weight world champion and undefeated in 15 pro contests, takes on Puerto Rican Serrano, who has not been beaten since April 2012.

And Taylor is pleased that after six months out of the ring she will return in her biggest fight to date.

She said: “It’s a fight that seems to have been talked about for years so I’m just glad it’s finally on.

“It’s a massive fight and one that I have been looking forward to for a long, long time.

"I’ve been working hard in training camp in the US since the start of the year so it’s great have a date to focus on now and I can’t wait for May 2nd.”

Much like Taylor, Serrano is refusing to engage in trash talk, but is confident come fight night the two will put on a terrific show.

“I’m happy we finally got this big fight made because both myself & Katie deserve to be in this position,” said Serrano.

“While our fight could have been a main event, I’m still grateful it’s happening. I’m not going to talk down to Katie, as I know she won’t to me, so I’ll leave it at this: one thing that’s for sure is that we’ll both leave it all in the ring."

Taylor takes on Serrano as the co-main event on Sky Sports Box Office, with a heavyweight clash between Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin also on the show.
