Welsh boxer Lauren Price says her dream is to win gold at Olympics

Welsh boxer Lauren Price has said her goal is to win gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Team GB's Price secured a gold European medal last month, a title she can add to her hoard of Commonwealth, European and World medals. However, the 25-year-old has never competed at an Olympic Games.

The athlete, who was inspired by Nicola Adams to pursue amateur boxing, said: "From the age of eight, my dream has always been to go to the Olympic Games. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"Even when I was in school, I used to say 'it doesn't matter, I'm going to become an athlete or go to the Olympics'.

"I believe it now more than ever [that I can win gold]. I'd say after winning Commonwealth gold - I kind of have always believed in myself - but I am now like oh my god I could actually do it," Price told Sky Sports.

She added: "I just love what I do and obviously when I want something I'll work hard at it and try to achieve it and do my best."

Price also said that Katie Taylor "has inspired me from the start. I always look up to her. Over the years, she has put women's boxing on the map".
