Bristol City sign Megan Wynne, Georgia Wilson and Jemma Purfield ahead of 2020/21 season
Bristol City have signed Megan Wynne, Georgia Wilson and Jemma Purfield ahead of the 2020/21 Women’s Super League season.
Wales international, Wynne, has signed a one-year deal having spent last season on loan at the Robins from Spurs.
The winger, who has earned five caps for Wales, said: "In my short loan spell at Bristol, I really felt at home. It was an easy decision for me, I knew this is where I wanted to be.
“I have been working hard during lockdown to make sure I’m in the best shape possible to return. I can’t wait to get back into training with my teammates now and I know we will be ready and raring to go when the season starts.”
Manager Tanya Oxtoby added: “She has valuable experience at international level and I’m looking forward being able to work with her daily to watch her grow and develop as a player next season.”
Wilson, 18, has penned her first professional contract with the side.
She came from the academy and made her first-team debut last season and made eight appearances.
Wilson said: "I'm really happy to sign my first professional contract with Bristol City. It's a club close to my heart as I came through the development system here.
“I’m excited for the season ahead and it will be great to get back on the pitch and play football.”
Oxtoby added: “Georgia is a fantastic young English player with great potential, and it’s been fantastic to see her develop both on and off the pitch the last season through the support of our environment."
Purfield, 23, has signed for the Reds on a two-year deal.
The defender said: “I’ve heard great things about the club and city, I can’t wait to get on the training pitch and prepare for what is shaping up to be an exciting season ahead.”
Oxtoby added: “After my first conversation with Jemma, I knew the environment she was seeking for her next challenge matched perfectly with what we provide at Bristol.
“We are about developing, challenging and providing opportunities for young English talent in one of the best leagues in the world.”
But as a trio of players enter the club, one leaves, as Frankie Brown’s contract comes to an end.
The Scotland international joined from Hibernian in 2014 but will now depart after making 77 appearances for the Reds over seven seasons.
Oxtoby said: “Our club has been privileged to have an individual of Frankie’s qualities on and off the pitch for over half a decade.
“She has been a fantastic role model for all of those around her, and I cannot speak highly enough of her as a person.
“Everyone at the football club wishes her all the very best in her future endeavours.”
