British boxing champion Scott Fitzgerald has been charged with three counts of common assault and one count of witness intimidation following an incident in Preston on Monday.

The 28 year-old was present at Preston Magistrates' Court on Thursday where the case was sent to the Crown Court in May.

Fitzgerald is alleged to have assaulted two women aged 21 and 42, as well as a 23-year-old man.

Fitzgerald has already been suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control.
