Chelsea manager Emma Hayes slams Liverpool for the 'worst' pitch in the Women's Super League after Blues held to draw

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has slammed Liverpool for the state of their pitch following the Blues' 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The west London side's boss heavily criticised The Reds as she lamented the quality of the women's playing surface.

Hayes said: "That pitch shouldn't be part of our league, we deserve better standards and I think for Liverpool football club, champions of Europe, they should provide their women's team with significantly more than they're doing.

"I think the quality of that pitch, the worst in the league, is a stain on their football club."

The pitch was in a sodden and boggy condition, while other WSL matches were called off due to pitch condition.

Manchester United's clash against Birmingham City was postponed as well as West Ham's trip to Bristol City.

Chelsea finish 2019 in third position in the WSL, four points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool lifted themselves off the bottom with their point against Chelsea as Bristol City slipped to the foot of the table.
