Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten signs new contract to keep her at club until 2023

Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten has signed a new contract with the Women’s Super League champions to keep her at the club until 2023.

The 26 year-old played 23 times for Emma Hayes’ side last season, scoring seven goals in what was an impressive first campaign as she helped the west London side to the league title and League Cup.

And now the Norwegian believes there is nowhere she would rather be than Chelsea at this moment in time.

Speaking to the club website, she said: "My first season was amazing and I don’t think there is a better place to be right now than this club.

"I’m very happy here and the club have showed that they want me here. I want to keep building and continue where we stopped last season."

Having achieved domestic success, Reiten is now looking towards European football as a new challenge for next season.

The Champions League is a competition Chelsea have never won and so Reiten and the rest of the team have their sights set on proving themselves in that competition.

"It’s going to be amazing to play in the Champions League. We talked about it and it has been one of our goals to play in the Champions League," she added.

"We want to be the best team so of course we need to be in the Champions League and this year we have the chance.

"We are going to train hard, push each other every day and we are going to be ready for when it starts."
