UK fighters could have to take a coronavirus test as part of their medical when the sport returns, according to the head of the British Boxing Board of Control.

All boxing is currently suspended in Britain until at least May 30 due to the pandemic.

And the BBBoC general secretary Robert Smith believes it may be something they have to address when events begin to take place again.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "The conversation I have had with doctors is that it is something we may have to consider, not that we will we definitely do it.

"This would be something that if their annual medical is in order that we implement and see where we go from there. We will look at it when we have to."

At the Olympic qualifiers in London last month, six boxers and staff members from Turkey and Croatia returned home and tested positive for coronavirus.

World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was forced to self-isolate last week after Prince Charles tested positive as he had met the Royal at the Commonwealth Day Service two weeks prior.
