Australia's women's cricket team have made history by winning a record 18th consecutive one-day international.

The Aussies dispatched Sri Lanka with consummate ease to close out a 3-0 series whitewash with a nine wicket victory at Allan Border Field.

Alyssa Healy hit an unbeaten 112 off just 76 balls as Sri Lanka's target of 195 was reached in just 26.5 overs.

You have to look back to October 2017 for the last time they suffered an ODI defeat, when they were beaten by England.

The record-breaking win helped Australia to surpass their own previous record which they set when they went unbeaten between 1997 and 1999.

After the match, all-rounder Ellyse Perry said: "It's been awesome the last 18 months. 

"We've had a lot of fun playing together and off the field and travelling around. It's an amazing time for women's sport and women's cricket in the country. 

"There are lots of things at the moment which are really great opportunities for the group. Being able to play all different countries in this ICC Championship has been a really cool experience for us."

They now have the opportunity to beat the men's record of 23 consecutive victories which they set in 2003 when they travel to South Africa in March.
