England cricketer Sam Billings shaves head to raise money for NHS amid coronavirus crisis
England and Kent cricketer Sam Billings has shaved his head as part of a campaign to raise money for the NHS charities helping with the battle against Covid-19.
Billings had been teasing the shave on Kent Cricket's social media accounts and the razor was finally put to work on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old wicket-keeper shared pictures of the shave on his Instagram and Twitter pages and received some light-hearted trolling from fellow cricketers.
Fast bowler Steve Finn responded with an emoji of an egg, while Scott Borthwick suggested it was a similar look to Freddie Ljungberg. Billings, however, likened himself to David Beckham 'circa 2001'.
Ravi Bopara was more cutting: "Why do u need to shave ur head? U got truck loads of money. Just donate it."
The shave was part of a #ShaveDonateNominate campaign started by England Rugby 7s' AJ Davis.
Other rugby stars including Saracens' Jack Singleton and Matt Gallagher have also got involved.
#shaveDonateNominate has thus fair raised over £7,000 and is aiming for £10,000.
