British duo Archibald and Barker settle for silver at Track World Cup as Australia win madison in Glasgow

Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker won the final sprint of the women's madison but had to settle for overall silver on the third and final day of the Track World Cup in Glasgow.

The duo finished on 31 points, nine behind the Australian pair of Annette Edmondson and Georgia Baker who claimed the title with an impressive 40.

After the race, Barker said: "It's quite nice that we've got so much better that we can do and are still second," said Barker.

Elsewhere, Hong Kong's Wai Sze Lee and Germany's Emma Hinze battled it out for sprint gold, with Lee proving too strong for Hinze, needing just two rounds to take the win.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Olena Starikova propped up the podium by winning both sprints against another German Lea Sophie Friedrich.
