Leah Thomas wins final stage to clinch first ever Women's Tour of Scotland

Leah Thomas won the first ever Women's Tour of Scotland after victory in the final stage this weekend.

The 30-year-old beat Swiss rider Elise Chabbey in the sprint finish to claim the ten second time bonus and with it the overall honours.

It was an incredibly close general classification after the first stage was called off midway through due to extreme weather, while the second stage also finished in a sprint finish, with Alison Jackson taking the win.

But Thomas' triumph on Sunday meant she beat Jackson to the overall victory by just five seconds, ahead of Stine Borgli who was a further two seconds back.

The highest place Scottish rider was Anna Shackley who finished in 13th place, 28 seconds down on Thomas.

Olympic champion Katie Archibald - leader of the Scotland team - finished in 54th, more than 13 minutes down.
