Danielle Carter’s 11-year run with Arsenal comes to an end as contract expires

Striker Danielle Carter is set to leave Arsenal after 11-years with the club.

The 27 year-old, who scored 60 goals in 184 appearances will leave as her contract expires in the summer, and is ‘heartbroken’ by the news.

She was part of the squad that won three Women’s Super League titles, four FA cups and five Continental Cups, but has missed the last two seasons with the Gunners due to serious ACL injuries.

In a statement, the England international wrote: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that my time at Arsenal has come to an end. I’ve given absolutely everything to this club, always wearing my heart on my sleeve.

"My heart is broken that my last game was THAT pre season game at The Emirates Cup last year. I wish things could’ve worked out differently.

"Massive thanks to all my past coaches, teammates and to the best fans.

“They say “I’m Arsenal till I die....” and today a massive part of me has died.”

Arsenal Women head coach Joe Montemurro added: "Danielle has been an amazing professional and character through very difficult times over the past couple of years.

“She has achieved many accolades as both a footballer and person and I’m sure there are many more to come.”
