Darts player Laura Turner believes Fallon Sherrock will deal with pressure at PDC Women’s Series

Darts sensation Fallon Sherrock will be able to cope with the pressure of returning as the biggest female star in the sport, says fellow player Laura Turner.

Sherrock will headline the PDC Women’s Series in October as she bids to secure her place in the main draw of the World Darts Championships for the second successive year.

Turner also praised Lisa Ashton for securing a PDC Tour card (PA)

Last year, the 26 year-old became the first woman to win a match at the world championships when she beat Ted Evetts.

She then sensationally reached the third round after defeating Mensur Sulijovic, before eventually being beaten by 22nd seed Chris Dobey.

That run brought her fame across the country as she was dubbed the ‘Queen of the Palace’ due to the world championships taking place in Alexandra Palace.

Yet despite all the fan-fair that has graced Sherrock since then, Turner believes she will still remain grounded.

And Turner, who is currently ranked No. 8 with the BDO, also reminded fans that four-time world champion Lisa Ashton will also be on the PDC Tour.

"To be fair, I think that Fallon will deal with it how she has dealt with absolutely everything so far anyway," she told Sky Sports.

"The attention will be on Fallon and people do forget that Lisa [Ashton] got a tour card, which was another momentous occasion this year.

"I do think that it was the media attention that created worldwide attention of what Fallon did, but it's helped darts as well."
