Deaf rugby sevens player Jodie Ounsley nominated for positive role model accolade at National Diversity Awards

Deaf rugby sevens player Jodie Ounsley has been nominated for a positive role model award at the National Diversity Awards.

The 19-year-old, who is currently playing for England at the World Sevens Series, is deaf but has cochlear implants so she can hear.

And Ounsley announced the news on Twitter, saying: "I've been nominated for ‘Positive Role Model’ award, how exciting.

"If anyone would kindly like to support me by voting, click link below and search on my name under Positive Role Model, Disability. A huge thanks for the nomination, very humbled."

The next women's sevens tournament is scheduled to be played in London on March 23-24.
