Defender Jasmine Matthews re-signs for Bristol City

Women's Super League club Bristol City have re-signed Jasmine Matthews on a new contract.

The defender is currently in her tenth season with the side and will become the joint longest serving player with club captain Loren Dykes.

She re-signed for the Robins last year after spending the previous season at Liverpool.

On her signing she said: "Ever since returning to the club in the summer it has felt like I’ve come home and I’m grateful for the opportunity to extend my time at the club."

And Bristol City manager Tanya Oxtoby added: "Jas has had an incredible season so far and she was a high priority in terms of ensuring we continue to build for next season.

"She’s a brilliant professional and role model, and someone who sets the standards day-in, day-out.

"Her performances this season have exceeded all my expectations, in particular her ability to the fundamentals of her role with brilliant consistency has meant she is vital to the success of our group."
