Defender Jemma Purfield leaves Liverpool as contract expires

Liverpool have announced the departure of Jemma Purfield after her contract came to an end.

The 23 year-old defender joined the side in January last year and has made six appearances for the side.

She said it has been an ‘honour to play for a club as big as Liverpool’ but that she is ready for a ‘new challenge’.

Manager Vicky Jepson added: "We just want to wish Jemma well as she’s been a great young player in the squad for the last 18 months.

“I've really enjoyed working with her and we’ll all be watching her future progress with great interest.”

The Reds were relegated from the Women’s Super League after the final placings for the 2019/20 season were announced by the Football Association last month.
