The Football Association have hinted they are hopeful of completing the full season of the Barclays Women's Super League.

According to BBC Sport, the aim would be to finish the campaign by early August, but fixtures will only be resumed if and when it is safe for the players and all the supporting staff.

The announcement came as a result of a conference call between club representatives on Friday after the announcement earlier in the week that football's lower tiers - three to seven - were to be immediately ended and all results would be void.

As teams in the WSL still have up to nine fixtures left to play in the 2019/20 season, the league must resume by mid-July at the latest in order to be completed before the set cut-off date at the end of August.
