Arsenal captain Kim Little eyes return before end of the season after successful foot surgery

Arsenal midfielder Kim Little has undergone successful surgery on a foot injury and is is expected to return to action before the end of the season.

A statement from the club confirmed the news, adding: “Everyone at the club is wishing Kim a speedy return."

The Scottish midfielder is joint second highest goalscorer this season with Daniëlle van de Donk on five. Vivienne Miedema, with 14, is both Arsenal's and the league's top scorer.

Her absence is a blow to third-placed Arsenal who sit on 33 points, five points behind Chelsea and six off table-toppers City.

Arsenal are looking to bounce back from two WSL losses when they travel to Liverpool tonight.

Little will no doubt be hoping for a speedy recovery with Phil Neville set to name his 18-woman Olympic squad soon. She was one of two Scots in Hope Powell’s team when London hosted in 2012.
