Australian international Mary Fowler signs for Montpellier

Montpellier have announced the signing of Australian international Mary Fowler.

The 17 year-old striker has joined from W-League side Adelaide United where she scored three goals in seven appearances.

She has also enjoyed spells at Illawarra Stingrays and Bankstown City.

Speaking about signing for her new club, she said: "The MSHC is a large, very family-friendly club. I was very well received and I am enthusiastic about starting this new adventure.

"I am very happy to join the club, I hope to help the team as much as possible and of course to score goals."

Fowler was the youngest player to feature in the World Cup in France last summer, where she played four times.

President of Montpellier Laurent Nicollin added: "I'm glad Mary is joining us. She is a talented young player so it is a bet on the future. It is up to her to show all the qualities that we have seen in her."

Montpellier's next game is against defending champions Lyon on February 23.
