Bayern Munich have announced the signing of German international Lea Schüller on a three-year contract.

The 22 year-old striker joins from rival club SGS Essen where she made 130 appearances since 2013. 

On her signing she said: "It means a lot to me to have made the move to Munich. I want to play for titles with FC Bayern. I hope for a lot of time and that I can help the team."

Schüller has scored ten goals in her 19 senior international appearances so far.

Bayern head coach Jens Scheuer said: "Lea Schüller is a player who has proven in the past years what qualities she has in the offensive area. 

"We are pleased that we were able to win her over and that she is convinced of the path we want to take over the next few years."

Bayern currently sit third in the Frauen-Bundesliga league, three points behind Hoffenheim. They next face Leverkusen on February 16.
