Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski donates €1 million to help coronavirus fight

Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski and his wife Anna have become the latest high profile names to donate towards the fight against coronavirus, pledging €1 million to the campaign 'We Kick Corona'.

A number of other footballers have also given money to the campaign, with Lewandowski's teammates Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka contributing a further €1m between them.

Manchester City and German forward Leroy Sane is another who has donated a 'considerable amount' to the cause.

Speaking to German outlet Bild about the situation, the Lewandowskis said: "We are all aware of the difficult situation. Today we all play in a team. Let us be strong in this fight. If we can help someone, let's do it.

"This situation affects every one of us, so we ask you to follow the instructions and listen to those who know best. Be responsible."
