Bristol City boss Tanya Oxtoby says Birmingham result is 'massive' for the club

Bristol City manager Tanya Oxtoby has said her side's win over Birmingham City in the Women's Super League is a 'massive result' in their bid to avoid relegation.

City beat Birmingham 1-0 thanks to a late strike from Ebony Salmon.

The result lifts Oxtoby's team off the bottom of the WSL and out of the relegation place, with Liverpool slipping to the foot of the table.

Speaking after the match, the Bristol City manager said: "This result is massive for the club when you look at the injury list, you look at where we’re at in terms of resources compared to others in the league.

“This is huge and lets not underestimate how much hard work has gone into a result like this because the players and staff deserve it as they work their butts off everyday, so I’m really pleased that they have got something positive to show for it today.

"We spoke earlier on in the week about looking for a response from Monday and to be fair to them in training and the review I couldn’t ask for much more, we just lack a little consistently but his is hard to get when they’re so young and there are so many changes going on. We’re very happy to get the result today.”

Bristol City's next WSL fixture is against reigning champions Arsenal on March 22.
