Chelsea boss Emma Hayes says The Blues were 'deserved winners' in FA Cup victory against Liverpool

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says her side were deserved winners in their FA Cup victory over Liverpool last night.

The Blues beat the Reds 1-0 thanks to a first half strike from Guro Reiten.

And despite not impressing for much of the match, Hayes is simply happy to still be in the hat.

She said: "All you want is to be in the hat. We had to play a rearranged game, which was the right decision otherwise the game wouldn’t have happened.

"We couldn’t afford to play this next weekend so I’m just grateful we came through it.

"It was 1-0 so we weren’t ruthless enough but I thought we were comfortable throughout the game and it wasn’t until the latter stages that they [Liverpool] committed bodies forward. Ultimately, we deserved to be winners and we're just happy to be in the hat for the next round."

Hayes is confident ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final against Willie Kirk's Everton.

"We’re a tough team and I certainly think we will prepare well, we have got the experience but I think Everton are a wonderful side. It doesn’t matter who we play, we’ll be prepared," she added.

"It will be a really tough game. I fully respect the work Willie Kirk is doing with that team but I trust the quality we’ve got in our group and we’ll be up for it."

Everton vs Chelsea will take place on March 15.
