Chelsea defender Millie Bright eyes unbeaten Women's Super League season ahead of huge clash with Manchester City

Chelsea defender Millie Bright believes her side can remain unbeaten all season in the Women's Super League, while also winning the other trophies on offer.

The 26-year-old has played in all 14 of the Blues' WSL games so far this campaign in which they have only conceded eight goals.

And while Chelsea have a busy schedule coming up with the a huge league game against Manchester City, the League Cup Final and an FA Cup campaign, Bright is confident their form will not drop off.

She said: "We never expect to win, but we are confident and want to keep the momentum.

"But you never know what to expect in football and a lot can happen and change week in, week out but as long as we are training hard we have the momentum in our favour and I can’t see a reason why we can’t go on and win everything.

"We also want to remain unbeaten, that is an aim, and so far so good. It is a big game [versus Manchester City] but our mentality all season has been every game is a final and that is the mentality we will have again.

"The season has shown if you drop points you will be relying on others to get results for you and that is not a position we want to be in, we want to rely on ourselves to go and win the league and winning puts us in the position to do that."

On Monday, Chelsea progressed to the last eight of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Liverpool.

And although it was not a convincing performance, Bright insists the result is all that matters as they enter the final third of the season.

"It was all about getting the win and we are finding a way to win games," she added.

"Sometimes football isn’t always pretty but we are getting the wins and the clean sheets and it’s on to the next one.

"Finding a way is something we will have to do more often, we are an attacking team and have been scoring a lot of goals so it is no surprise teams are defending the way they are and it is up to us to find the next level and break teams down.

"It’s true there are a lot of fixtures right now but it’s good and allows us to keep the momentum with more wins and good performances."

Chelsea travel to title rivals Man City on Sunday at 2pm.

A full round-up of all the weekend's results will be brought to you on the NewsChain website as soon as the final WSL match of the weekend has concluded.
