England full-back Lucy Bronze out of SheBelieves Cup with calf injury

Lucy Bronze has withdrawn from England's SheBelieves Cup squad due to a calf injury.

The 28 year-old defender, who was voted the UEFA Women's Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season, will be replaced by forward Alessia Russo.

Bronze plays her club football for Champions League holders Lyon and so will have the treatment for her injury in France.

The right-back, who has 81 caps for England, took to Twitter to voice her disappointment at missing out on the Lionesses defence of the trophy they won last year.

She said: "Haven’t missed a single camp and been present at every single game for the past 5 years. Gonna have massive FOMO next week."

England begin their SheBelieves Cup campaign on March 5 when they take on hosts and reigning world champions USA at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando.

Phil Neville's side then take on Japan and Spain in their other two group games.
