Lioness and Lyon footballer Alex Greenwood is self-isolating with her long-time boyfriend and Sheffield United player Jack O'Connell.

The couple, who met at sixth form, are usually very private about their relationship and Greenwood said it was 'quite big' to be speaking about him.

She told The Telegraph: “You ask every footballer – we’re very schedule-based people. [Now], we just plan when we have our sessions, plan when we have our rest days.

“It’s a healthy competition, [but] a hard competition to have because we’re not playing a game against each other – we’re literally just training to stay fit and healthy. Our running schedules obviously are slightly different in terms of what distance Jack covers compared to me, but we still do it together.”

She added that her move from Women's Super League side Manchester United to French club Lyon last summer has tested them as a couple.

“We’ve always lived away from each other until the last three years. When you don’t get to see each other for a month at a time, that can be challenging. But every decision we’ve made has been supported and backed 100 per cent.”
