FA extend Women's Championship due to storm disruption

The Football Association has extended the Women's Championship season after several games were postponed due to severe weather.

It emerged earlier this month that the governing body were contemplating the move for the second tier of English football.

The Championship season, which was due to finish on April 26, will now conclude on May 10.

This means that games rescheduled due to Storm Ciara a few weeks ago are able to go ahead.

The fixtures to be played on the last day are: Charlton Athletic v Sheffield United, Coventry United v Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace v London Bees, Durham v Aston Villa and Lewes v London City Lionesses.

The Women's Super League will not be affected.
