Former Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini greeted by medics after testing positive

Former Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini has announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

The 32 year-old who is now playing at Chinese club Shandong Luneng confirmed the news on social media.

He said he 'hopes to return to the game as soon as possible' as he is put into isolation at Jinan hospital.

The Belgium international is so far the only player at a Chinese Super League club to have the virus.

In a statement his club wrote: "The official test confirmed that the player Fellaini has tested positive for coronavirus during the quarantine observation period.

"During this period, the player's body temperature has been normal and there are no other discomforts. He has received further observation and treatment at a designated medical institution."

During his career he spent six years with United where he made 119 appearances and also played for Everton between 2008-2013.
