Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz dies after testing positive for coronavirus

Former Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz has died after contracting coronavirus, aged 76. 

Sanz was part of the 33-time Spanish champions club from 1995-2000. During that period Real won the Champions League twice. 

He signed star players including Davor Suker, Predrag Mijatovic, Roberto Carlos and Clarence Seedorf. 

His son, Lorenzo Sanz Duran, announced the news on Twitter and wrote: "My father has just died. He did not deserve this end in this manner. One of the best, most courageous and hard working people I have seen in my life. His family and Real Madrid were his passion."

Sanz has added to the 1,326 deaths across the country which were confirmed yesterday.
