German striker Pauline Bremer to leave Manchester City in the summer

German striker Pauline Bremer will leave Manchester City to join Wolfsburg in the summer after three years at the club.

The 23-year-old has bagged ten goals in 12 Women's Super League games so far this season.

And while she is in the form of her career at City, Bremer has decided now is the time to move on to another challenge.

She said: “After three wonderful years in Manchester, I have taken the difficult decision to leave Manchester City and England at the end of this season and accept an offer from VfL Wolfsburg for a new challenge in my career.

“Manchester City is a fantastic club and I will never forget all the support I have received during my time here, from the coaches, staff, teammates and fans, especially during my rehabilitation from injury.

“It has been an amazing experience and I leave with so many fantastic memories - City will always be in my heart."

Since joining from Lyon in the summer of 2017 as a part of the deal which saw Lucy Bronze go the other way, Bremer has won all the major domestic trophies on offer, including the WSL in 2016.

“I feel like I have grown as a person and as a player during my time in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and I will always be thankful for the opportunities that I have had here," she added.

“I believe however that the time is now right for the next chapter in my football journey and I am looking forward to the challenge of playing in the German Bundesliga.

“My only focus between now and May though will be ensuring that we finish the season as strongly as possible and I will be giving everything I have to make sure that the team succeeds.”

Man City are currently top of the WSL, one point above Chelsea having played a game more.
