Liverpool midfielder Rachel Furness insists her side will 'take the positives' out of their defeat to Arsenal despite the disappointment of conceding late on.

Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema scored her second of the game 12 minutes from time as the Gunners secured a scintillating 3-2 victory at the Deva Stadium.

But while Vicky Jepson's side missed out on vital points in their battle to avoid relegation, Furness believes there is a great deal of confidence the players can take into the final nine league games of the season.

Speaking after the match, she said: "I think we've taken one of the best teams in Europe all the way and we've come off disappointed not to get anything out of the game.

"That just shows that in the team and in the squad how well we're doing that we're disappointed just to get beat by Arsenal.

"We will look back at it and take the positives out of the game but we've got to put them little mistakes right going into Sunday's game."

Liverpool currently sit second from bottom of the Women's Super League, above Bristol City and out of the relegation zone only by virtue of goal difference.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to Emma Hayes' high-fliers Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

They then return to league duties with an away game at West Ham on Sunday, February 23.
