Manchester City captain Steph Houghton set to create history with her next win in the Women's Super League

Manchester City captain Steph Houghton will create history next time her side win in the Women's Super League.

The 31 year-old will become the first player in WSL history to have won 100 matches in the competition.

She made 74 appearances for Arsenal between 2010-2013 and a  further 81 appearances for City since she signed in 2014.

The England international said: "It'll be an unbelievable milestone I think especially with the games that we've got coming up.

"I think hearing those stats, I know that I play a lot of football and I know that I've made a lot of appearances but to know I've won more games than anybody else for both Man City and Arsenal, that's a pretty big achievement.

"And a pretty good ratio at that! So I'll be really chuffed to be honest, because if people know who I am and I'm in and around the place, whether it's in this environment or England all I want to do is win so yes, it'll be a pretty special feeling."

Manchester City are set to play Chelsea today at 2pm at home in the WSL. City lead the league with the just one point ahead of Chelsea as they both continue their hunt for the title.
