Manchester City's Caroline Weir singles out Chelsea's Bethany England as her side's biggest danger in this weekend's WSL clash

Manchester City's Caroline Weir believes Bethany England poses the biggest threat to her side when they come up against Chelsea this weekend.

England has scored four goals in seven appearances in the WSL this season but Weir is hoping to keep her 'quiet' when the two teams clash on Sunday.

She told NewsChain: "They have a lot of good players. Obviously Beth England is playing well at the moment, she is scoring a lot of goals and she is a big threat up front.

"They have top internationals throughout their team so we will have to do our best to keep them quiet.

"We've obviously got a similar team for internationals and hopefully they'll be firing come Sunday."

City only just beat bottom-of-the-table Liverpool last weekend with a 1-0 victory and, despite the side struggling, Weir believes her team can win against The Blues.

The 24-year-old added: "I think we played well in the first half against Liverpool and then they came out strong in the second half. We struggled to hold on towards the end.

"But we were confident we would win, so yeah we know what we need to do on Sunday. We will work on it this week in training and hopefully put in a good performance."

Chelsea, City and Arsenal are all in a close battle for the title but the Scottish international doesn't believe this weekend will define their season.

"It's a big game. You can see it's tight at the top at the moment with us, Chelsea and Arsenal but I don't think it will define what happens in the season.

"Of course we want to get three points and be top of the league so it's huge and we're looking forward to it."

Chelsea vs Manchester City kicks off at midday on Sunday and will be available to watch via the FA Player app.
