Missed chances and mistakes see England undone by Brazil in friendly

England Lionesses have now lost four games in five after a 2-1 defeat to Brazil in a friendly at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.

Phil Neville's team were twice caught napping in defence early in the second half and Brazil's Debinha took advantage to score both her team's goals and earn herself the player of the match award.

England rued their missed chances, having looked dominant in the first half and the Brazilians were quick to make them pay.

On a positive note, Bethany England scored her first international goal in the 80th minute, just seven minutes after coming off the bench, but it was not enough to boost the lack- lustre performance from the Lionesses in front of a vocal Middlesbrough crowd.

They now head to Portugal for their next friendly on Tuesday and will have to look at the missed opportunities from today in order to try and turn their fortunes around before their next home game in front of a record 75,000 Wembley crowd against Germany in November.
