Northern Ireland defeated by Ukraine in Pinatar Cup

Northern Ireland were beaten 4-0 by Ukraine in the Pinatar Cup.

All four goals were scored in the first half as Ukraine started strongly. Nicole Kozlova opened the scoring in the 18th minute and that opened the floodgates.

The women in yellow then scored three in six minutes to leave the contest over by half-time.

Daryna Apanaschenko scored twice, the first in the 33rd minute and she followed it up in the 37th. Olha Ovdiychuk then slotted the fourth goal in the 39th to make it a painful evening for Northern Ireland.

The defeat not only put them at the bottom of the Pinatar table but it also left their manager Kenny Shiels without a win after six games in charge.

Northern Ireland were beaten 1-0 by Iceland on Wednesday and will face a confident Scottish team on Tuesday.

Scotland have won both of their games at the tournament so far against Ukraine and Iceland.
