Scotland manager Shelley Kerr says 'social media can be very cruel'

Scotland manager Shelley Kerr has said that social media channels can be 'very very cruel' and that their national set-up has supportive measures for players in place.

Kerr, who announced her Pinatar Cup squad yesterday, also emphasised the importance of being kind online.

"I think across the board people need to be kinder. I think some of the critique can be personal. And, you know, it's not just for the players, it's for the staff as well.

"I think we need to be mindful and first and foremost it's about the players' health and well-being.

"We have hotline numbers that players can get access to and there are support mechanisms there if the players have any issues at all or face challenges that they can get the right support for.

"It is extremely important because social channels can be very, very cruel. And I think it's hard when you're in the spotlight. It can be really, really challenging and difficult so we need to be mindful of that."
