Sheffield United sign Manchester United’s Aimee Palmer for a season-long loan

FA Women’s Championship side Sheffield United have signed Aimee Palmer from Manchester United on a season-long deal.

In the 2017-18 season she impressed coaches whilst playing for Bristol City in the Women’s Super League. Manchester United manager Casey Stoney then went on to sign the 19 year-old for last year's Championship squad before gaining promotion to the WSL.

Palmer made her WSL debut at the age of 16 for Bristol City during the 2017 Spring Series before becoming a regular player for City.

The midfielder made 13 league appearances for United and was also part of the England Under-19 side at the European Championships in Scotland.

Sheffield manager Cara Ward said: “Aimee is a great addition to the squad. Her level of maturity at such a young age is something to admire, she will certainly add a huge amount of competition to an already competitive squad.”

The opening game of the Women’s Super League season will see Manchester City hosting Manchester United at the Etihad on September 7.
