What will happen when Arsenal face Liverpool in the WSL this weekend

Arsenal are back at home this weekend as Liverpool travel south to face the Women's Super League defending champions.

The last two times the sides have met Arsenal have crushed The Reds. The Gunners claimed a 5-1 victory in March and trounced Liverpool 5-0 last September.

Liverpool had the perfect setting to attempt to get their first win of the WSL season last weekend as they hosted Everton at Anfield. However, the bottom-of-the-league side couldn't capitalise on the occasion and the match ended in a 1-0 defeat.

Liverpool manager Vicky Jepsen said afterwards: "It's gonna hurt us more because we were the better team here today.

"There's no question about that. We give them a goal with a mistake from our keeper which Anke is obviously gutted about and we'll have to work to keep her head high because it was a goal that we chucked in the back of our net."

The Reds will be hoping to get their first victory at Meadow Park but The Gunners stand in their way and are coming off the back of a momentous win.

The north London club were a part of setting the record crowd attendance at a WSL match last weekend when they beat Spurs 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

38,262 fans watched on to see captain Kim Little lead by example, slotting home their first goal. Arsenal's woman of the moment Vivianne Miedema then doubled the visitors' lead.

The team, who currently sat in third position in table, have scored some stunning goals so far this season in their pursuit of retaining the WSL title.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have only bagged one point so far which they picked up in their 1-1 draw with Bristol City.

England international Melissa Lawley, who arrived from Manchester City in the summer, is the only player at the club to get her name on the scoresheet.

The two sides face each other at 2pm on Sunday.
