Formula 1 teams unite to provide ventilators for coronavirus patients

Formula 1 teams are set to increase the number of ventilators for governments and health authorities in the battle against the coronavirus crisis.

Ventilators are essential for  those who have contracted COVID-19 and are suffering with severe breathing problems and are used in F1 during the build-up to races.

And with the F1 season not due to get underway until June - with the first race expected to be the Azerbaijan Grand Prix - the competing teams have now joined up to give those infected with the virus the best possible treatment.

A spokesman for Formula 1 said: "The F1 community is engaged in discussions with all the relevant stakeholders regarding this issue and we will provide further details in due course."
